Three things to do in Singapore

1. Admire the views of the bay at Marina Bay Sands

You’ve probably heard of or seen the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel. This building is a must visit for any tourist coming to Singapore for sightseeing, shopping and dining. However, you must be a hotel guest if you wish to swim in the infinity pool on the top floor. You can, however, pay a small fee to access the SkyPark viewing platform right next to the pool.

Although the views are spectacular during the day, they are even more impressive at night when the weather is not too hot. Many locals suggest strolling the entire Marina Bay boardwalk in the evening as well, as there are often light shows and the scenery is so much better with various office buildings lit up.

The best part is that Marina Bay is close to various other places of interest like Gardens by the Bay, The Fullerton Hotel, and the Esplanade. If you plan to walk everywhere during the day, don’t forget to apply sunscreen to avoid sunburn.

Temperatures in Singapore can soar up to 34 degrees Celsius, so be sure to wear comfortable, airy clothing when visiting.

2. Eat like a local

What is most unique about Singapore is that it is home to four major races. As such, we are fortunate to have so many different types of food available. If you are short on time, there are three neighborhoods you should visit; they are Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. In these areas you will find food and other souvenirs unique to the various races in Singapore.

If you’re heading to any of the hawker centers and smaller stores, having cash is always a good idea, as some of these places might not accept contactless payments. You’ll also want to make sure to include a portable charger and other tech items when packing your necessities in Singapore.

3. Buy cool finds

As mentioned earlier, Singapore has a lot to offer tourists across different budgets, which also applies to the shopping experience. There are many different shopping centers in the iconic Orchard Road which stock luxury goods from well-known brands, but there are also smaller independent shops and retailers. You can also head to Design Orchard to buy locally designed items.

There is plenty to do in Singapore if your stay includes a weekend, you can always look for things to do on weekends too. More recently, Singapore removed the requirement to wear a mask indoors, but requires people to wear masks on public transport and in various medical establishments.
